It’s the same ‘cheer up love’ ‘smile’ culture. We don’t have to look happy or be happy for that matter, to appease men. I shall be a mardy arse should I so please, and especially so if you’re being mean.

That must have felt wonderful, I like it when I get the words just right. What made you delete it in the end? I’m sure you made a solid point.

Haaha, oh now I want to see it even more! Did you do any clever swearing or just rage swearing? I sometimes wonder if it's worth arguing with the unwinnable, I like to hope that sometimes a little may infiltrate or change their perspective even a smidgen. But I don't know if internet arguing is very fruitful, I think it usually just evokes rage rather than progress.

Haha, the removal was for you not for that person! Someone once described the internet to me as everyone getting their own soap box all and at the same time shouting out their opinions out to those who'd listen, or not. I thought it was a very good visual. They also said that not everyone should have the right to broadcast their opinion, this part I wasn't sure of. I think more that the human mind isn't accustomed to either sharing in this way or hearing SO many opinions.

Bryony, thank you so much for the writing that you do. I love this post. Yes, let's take ourselves seriously. If we don't take ourselves seriously, then why shouldn't anyone else? Congratulations on your running channel. That is one epic journey.

I hang off every word you write Bryony and this edition was no different- thank you. I often have your voice in my head as I run and it helps me a lot!

However - what has prompted me to write here is that I live in a town called Wangaratta in Australia. I call my work team the wang gang and people laugh about us the ones from “wang who wang on!”. That’s all :)

Thank goodness I have you to articulate what I can’t.

Also, good luck with the marathons - you are an inspiration! (I just had to delete ‘the runs’ as it sounded like tummy trouble 😆)
